Shayla is a North Carolina native. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Human Occupational Studies, followed by a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Lenoir Rhyne University, in 2007. Shayla’s career has led her to experiences in the areas of geriatrics, as well as pediatrics. She has worked in various settings, including: outpatient, skilled nursing, mental health, school settings and home care. She has additional experience working with cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorders, feeding difficulties, fine motor, and visual motor delays. Shayla has also assisted families with home modifications, in order to increase the function of the home for increased independence.
I enjoy learning and feel a responsibility to gain as much knowledge of my craft as possible, in order to pass it on. In my free time, I enjoy a good read and a hot cup of green tea. I also enjoy working out and look for new ways to get a good dose of endorphins through physical activity.
